TUUCI's New Ocean Master MAX Crescent™ Parasol

Wins Design Excellence Award

October 4, 2009

TUUCI, a global maker of innovative shade systems, was recognized for its cutting edge design capabilities during International Casual Furniture Market in Chicago, Ill. with a 2009 Design Excellence Award for its newly created Ocean Master MAX Crescent™ Parasol. The accolade adds to the company's growing portfolio of awards as TUUCI continues to push the envelope in product design and development.

"With the introduction of the Ocean Master MAX Crescent™, we have literally reinvented the parasol,” said Dougan Clarke, founder and CEO of Miami-based TUUCI. "It is maximized for the greatest coverage with the strength and flexibility to withstand everything Mother Nature can throw at it.”
TUUCI designed the Ocean Master MAX Crescent™ Parasol as a contemporary interpretation of a classic French Riviera beach parasol. The size and scale of the parasol are maximized, providing enough shade coverage for several dining or deep seating areas. The sweeping curves arch to beautifully polished trillion finial-end caps featuring classic TUUCI canopy tailoring. Adding strength to its beauty, the parasol features TUUCI's V-MAX™ Strut Design, which has a four-point profile concentrating strength along the radial walls to provide reinforcement at the exact position where maximum wind forces are applied.

"TUUCI products are designed to be the ideal combination of beauty, strength and functionality,” Clarke said. "We think our Ocean Master MAX Crescent Parasol achieves that combination perfectly.”
Clarke credits life experience and extensive travel for the design inspiration for the Ocean Master MAX Crescent Parasol and other TUUCI products. Clarke also credits the company's advanced research and development unit, "Shadow Works”, for its innovations in parasol strength and stability while keeping within the company's proven mantra of minimalist design. The result is an extensive product line of shade structures, including parasols, pavilions and cabanas, lounges and marine applications.
"The Design Excellence Awards highlight the best in new product design in an industry full of innovation and product excellence,” Clarke said. "As a company, we are always reinventing and redesigning to better ourselves and our products. We are honored to be recognized at such a high level for our efforts.”

There were more than 100 entries in this year's Design Excellence Awards, which highlight 10 product categories. Winners were honored with a cocktail party at the Chicago Merchandise Mart.
